First things first | What do vegans eat?

Go Vegan

The first question you ask when talking about “vegans” is: what do they eat?

In many cases the Western lifestyle and diet have led, in recent decades, to a daily and excessive consumption of food of animal origin, meat, cheese, and for many people thinking of eliminating these “cornerstones” seems a crazy
decision, to say the least.
This is in fact one of the first obstacles to overcome when you ask yourself how to go vegan.

Nothing could be more wrong. A vegan diet, although devoid of any food of animal origin, is rich in various and healthy foods.
Cereals, legumes, fruits and vegetables, especially if eaten according to their seasonality, allow covering the recommended needs of all nutrients.

Why Go Vegan?

Health Benefits of a Vegan Diet

Vegan diets tend to be healthy diets, containing all the nutrients our bodies require. Research shows that vegan diets are linked to a reduced risk of heart disease, type 2 diabetes and some forms of cancer.

Going vegan for the planet

Everyone is now aware of the drama that is being consumed in the seas and oceans of the whole globe.
Commercial fishing is destroying the marine ecosystem, leading to the disappearance of many fish species.
The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) says that “By the year 2100, without significant changes, more than half of the world’s marine species may be on the brink of extinction”.

A Plant-Based Diet is key to reducing food waste

Go Vegan

Food waste is getting a lot of attention lately, and for good reason. No matter how you slice it, the statistics are downright alarming.

One of the most impactful changes you could make to reducing your carbon footprint is to center your plate around plant-based foods. Plant-based foods require significantly fewer resources than animal based foods.
Not only is a plant-based eating pattern healthier for you, it requires less land, water, and energy use.

These are just a few reasons why you should choose a vegan lifestyle.

When and if you happen to go vegan, the first sentence you’ll say to any nonvegan you’ll have the chance to talk about your new lifestyle with is: “It’s the best choice I’ve ever made in my life. I just regret not being a vegan first!”

And believe me, that’s exactly how it’s gonna be.
